On December 14, Kia Motors America announced that, on the heels of receiving the first-ever "Rookie of the Year" award from the Madison Avenue Advertising Walk of Fame, it was recognized on Mashables 10 Most Innovative Viral Video Ads of 2011 list. Kia notes that the legend of Kia Motors' trio of music-loving hamsters continued to grow with Mashable ranking the "Share Some Soul" spot as one of the "10 Most Innovative Viral Video Ads of 2011." Since rolling onto the scene in 2009 to announce the arrival of Kia's funky Soul urban passenger vehicle, the driving, rapping and dancing hamsters have attracted millions of viewers around the world, with the "Share Some Soul" campaign alone eclipsing more than 10 million "The Kia Soul hamsters have become pop culture icons and dramatically increased consumer awareness, perception and consideration for the brand, proving that Kia is a pioneering brand with its finger on the pulse of today's market," said Michael Sprague, vice president of marketing & communications, Kia Motors America (KMA). "Mashable is one of the leading news sources in digital culture, and landing on their top 10 list is further evidence that the marketing campaign for the Soul continues to connect and entertain consumers."

Mashable's list consists of a variety of advertising campaigns, chosen for their widespread appeal and innovation, but mainly for understanding the target audience and being creative about engaging the consumer.

Created by David&Goliath, KMA's advertising agency of record, "Share Some Soul" finds three hamsters rolling through an apocalyptic landscape in an aptly named "Alien Green" 2012 Kia Soul with this summer's hottest song, "Party Rock Anthem" by LMFAO - number one on the Billboard Hot 100 for six weeks - blasting from the hatchback's new 350-watt Infinity®1 audio system. The hamsters bring style and flair to a dark and dreary scene with their fluorescent Hamstar® street wear and quickly capture the attention of battling robots when they emerge from their Soul and begin performing the latest dance trend, shuffling. Just as the Kia Soul infuses fun and personality into the compact CUV segment, the Hamsters' positive energy causes the alien robots and humanoids to stop fighting, drop their weapons and shuffle and party together.

Fastest-Growing Automaker's All-New Subcompact honored as Best Hatchback

-- 2012 Rio 5-door SX recognized for stunning design, fun-to-drive performance and tremendous value

-- Kia Rio 5-door delivers up to 40 miles per gallon[1] on the highway and offers class-leading horsepower[2]

IRVINE, Calif., Dec. 15, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The latest chapter in Kia Motors' design-led transformation, the all-new 2012 Rio 5-door, has been honored as "Best Hatchback" by Vroomgirls.com as part of the website's first annual "Vroomies Best Cars of the Year" awards.  After hailing the Rio 5-door's appealing combination of sporty performance, outstanding interior room, eye-catching design and class-leading fuel economy, the editors of Vroomgirls.com – the first comprehensive automotive website created by and for women – simply stated "honestly, what more could any driver want?"

"Kia has been attracting new customers to the brand with a stylish lineup of technology-laden, fun-to-drive vehicles and the Rio 5-door is packed with the right balance of performance, modern amenities and fuel economy that consumers are looking for," said Michael Sprague, vice president of marketing and communications, Kia Motors America (KMA).  "The subcompact segment is more competitive than ever and Vroomgirls recognition of the all-new Rio is further evidence of Kia's unprecedented growth and expansion in the U.S. market."

The Vroomie awards are selected by the editors of Vroomgirls.com and winners are recognized as representing the best of what new-car shoppers should consider during their purchase process.  Vroomgirls.com was launched earlier this year and is dedicated to helping women make intelligent car-buying decisions.

"Simply put, the Rio is a blast!" said Tara Weingarten, Vroomgirls.com editor-in-chief.  "It's sporty, fun, handles very well in corners, has great styling and is spacious enough to be an every-day driver with no compromises."  Weingarten noted the Rio's outstanding fuel economy of 30 mpg in the city and 40 mpg on the highway as another contributing factor in securing the Best Hatchback accolade.

About the 2012 Rio 5-door

Available in three trims – LX, EX and SX – the 2012 Rio is available with a 1.6-liter GDI four-cylinder with the option of either a six-speed manual transmission (LX only) or efficient six-speed automatic. One of only two vehicles in the segment to offer a GDI engine, the 2012 Rio provides an inviting combination of power and fuel efficiency and achieves a class-leading 138 horsepower while maintaining a class-leading fuel economy[3] rating of 30/40 mpg (city/highway).  The Rio 5-door subcompact hatchback begins at an impressive $13,600 MSRP[4], while the Rio 5-door A/T starts at $14,700 – both lower than the previous generation.  The top-of-the-line, sporty SX trim starts under $18,000.

Design-Led Transformation and Product Line
Kia Motors has undergone a dramatic, design-led transformation, which has been delivering dynamically styled vehicles in several important segments at exactly the right time, contributing to the brand's continued gains in U.S. market share.  Kia is poised to continue its momentum and brand growth through design innovation, quality, value, safety features and new technology.  Kia's commitment to the U.S. market is represented by its U.S.-based manufacturing facilities in West Point, Georgia – KMMG – which is responsible for the creation of more than 10,000 plant and supplier jobs and added the critically-acclaimed Optima midsize sedan[5] to its production line in September.  Kia's model year 2012 vehicle line includes the Sorento CUV, Sportage compact CUV, Optima midsize sedan, Optima Hybrid, Soul urban passenger vehicle, Forte compact sedan, Forte 5-door compact hatchback, Forte Koup two-door coupe, all-new Rio and Rio 5-door sub-compacts and Sedona minivan.

The "Soul" Strikes Again!!!

10 Great Cars for Less Than $20,000

Although the economy is showing signs of recovery, consumers are still cautious when buying a car. If you're on the fence, try one of these 10 new cars. Your wallet will thank you.

By Andrew Wendler of MSN Autos

Twenty grand — for many car shoppers, that figure represents the financial tipping point where the reality of buying a used car begins to blur with the dream of buying a new one. We've all heard that a new car loses 10 to 20 percent of its value as soon as it's driven off the dealer's lot, and that the smart move is to let someone else take the hit of depreciation for you. On the other hand, never before has the marketplace been so rife with competent, attractive and truly affordable new vehicles, each of which comes equipped with a manufacturer's warranty. So before you resign yourself to purchasing a used vehicle, take a look at what less than $20,000 can buy you in today's new-car market. You might be surprised.

2012 Kia Soul

Price: $13,900

That's not a misprint. For about the same money as a used sedan or an off-lease mini-ute, you can put a brand-new, Kabuki-faced Kia Soul in your driveway. Refreshed for the 2012 model year, this smaller version of the Nissan Cube has been earning fans from an unlikely demographic: tall people. Internet forums and message boards are littered with earnest testimonials from people standing 6 foot 2 inches and taller who are thrilled to find a small, efficient vehicle with plenty of headroom and legroom. A 6-speed manual transmission and a 1.6-liter 4-cylinder engine team up to deliver an estimated 27 mpg city/35 mpg highway, and Kia's 10-year/100,000-mile drivetrain warranty helps keep operating expenses fittingly low.

How often do you check your tire pressure?

Tires1
Under-inflated tires create excessive heat and stress that can lead to early tire failure. To get every last mile out of your tires, check them at least once a month (more in hot weather). Check when they are cold (driven for less than one mile) for an accurate reading. Consider keeping a portable air pump in your vehicle as well. Properly inflated tires increase fuel economy and maintain safety.
